Re: Current Vis Big Pine 31MM - Layton 72MM

7 mile is pretty bad, although it may be clearing.

all i know is i dove off the bridge rubble by sombrero tower and had 10ft vis on the surface (couldn't even make out shadows in 20-25ft of water).

bottom vis opened up a little to about 25ft, with some current. and COLD water.

as the tide changed it pulled in some upwelling water from out deep. i had 66 deg on the bottom in 115ft.

Re: Current Vis Big Pine 31MM - Layton 72MM

was diving in the marathon/big pine area yesterday and vis was spotty with the tide. decent vis way out in the gulf, but pretty crappy in hawks and on the reef for the most part. incoming on the bridge wasnt all that bad though

Re: Current Vis Big Pine 31MM - Layton 72MM

reef between bahia honda and the 7mile was DIRTY and green.

in 85ft we had a dark 20ft of vis

coming across the reef in shallow water you could see the sand patches but that's it.

vis on the swing span in 115 off the 7mile was about 30ft

very little current in both places. did a drop in deep water and had no bottom current.

7-18

even on the high tide the vis on the reef off the 7mi sucked.

25-30ft with a light current on the swing span in 115ft

10ft on a shallow patchreef about 2 miles west of sombrero.

Off Marathon today past 30ft was crystal clear bluewater. Inside it was crap.

Deep reef 80ft. +/- due south of Marathon 20 - 25ft.
due south of Key Colony 30ft.
All on incoming tide
A bit of current today

Re: Current Vis Big Pine 31MM - Layton 72MM

dove <1mi from sombrero tower on the east side

on the water around 4pm

no current to be had
blue water till you hit 50ft, then snotty particulate pea-soup down to 90.

moved inshore and had 60+ ft of vis on a 50ft patch

jumped on a mid channel patch in 40ft to check for lobster and burn the tank up...top 15ft was clear, bottom was warmer and looked like a mud puddle. <10ft vis

If the east and south winds keep up, which its supposed to, then I'm sure it will.
