Re: Long Island daily vis thread
Hoping to try some areas along the western south-shore this weekend if time permits. I'll report back if I do.

Re: Long Island daily vis thread
Anyone been diving at demo point lately?
How has the vis been on the mid South Shore? I never seem to have the time to make the drive out east...Just wondering if there is anything worth while over here. +1 for the making of this thread by the way!

Re: Long Island daily vis thread
Dove the western south shore the last two nights. Both nights only had an hour of sunlight after work, but the viz was decent.(6ft at the bottom). Saw some good sized blackfish and a few small bass. No fish taken, but at least I know where they are for Oct 5th. Only a couple more weeks.

Re: Long Island daily vis thread
Viz was pretty good yesterday at Montauk. From surface I could see silhouette of structure, or sand in 20'. But with sediment floating around I wouldn't call it 20' of viz. Still not sure how everyone considers the distance in viz, if I see a rock 10' away but its hazy and can't see a fish right next to it, is that considered 10' visibility?

Re: Long Island daily vis thread
Haven't speared in a while, but took an RnR trip out of Jones inlet. Fished Cholera banks for seabass, the visibility a few miles off shore was awesome. Released a short fluke an watched it swim back down for about 10 seconds. Would love to be able to dive this area but its way ou of my ability, hopefully a south wind pushes this water towards us. Water just outside the inlet was brown.

Re: Long Island daily vis thread
Distance of vis. My arm extended n gun is 6 1/2 feet , if u hit your target n your shaft is out the gun is another 4 1/2 feet , right there is 11'
If your shooting line is out too is more vis. Oscar |
