Matt is the man and really knows his stuff when it comes to spearfishing as a whole. Can't wait to see this gun in person!

Re: Legends Raffle Donation - Captain Bly Speargun!
That looks like a hell of a gun for marginal vis in the kelp. I'm always wondering if I should carry my 50" for quick swinging in poor vis, but then worry that there will be clear patches where I might be able to see a fish that was out of its range. This gun should solve that.
I think I know where my tickets are going. You guys stay out of that jar. |

Re: Legends Raffle Donation - Captain Bly Speargun!
I was checking out this gun yesterday while dropping off a Spearo Backpack donation to be raffled off at the event. It looks like one hell of a killing machine. This one is gonna need a bigger bucket to hold everyone's raffle tickets.

Absolutely beautiful gun Bly, you are "The Man"
Having had the good fortune to try out a prototype Capt Bly special, I can tell everyone that this is no poor vis only gun. Bly meticulously balances and ballasts his guns for each diver. The end result is a powerful gun with little to no recoil and the ability to swing the gun quickly. I guaranty you this gun has the same power as most 60-63 inch guns on the market, will be more accurate, and easier to handle.

I suppose it really doesn't matter as long as I win the gun and like it, but who is "Captain Bly?"

He is a SD local with a few decades of diving for WSB under his belt. He's a carpenter/contractor who started making custom guns a few years back for friends and has recently decided to start making them for the general diving public... They are great guns, the biggest problem with them up until recently was that he would only make them for his buddies. He was glossed "Bly" because he runs a...um... tight ...ship... and doesn't tolerate people acting up on his boat. The guns he make have a very signature style - compact and extremely powerful, but ballasted so there is little or no recoil. Designed as WSB slaughtering machines. |

Re: Legends Raffle Donation - Captain Bly Speargun!
Well of course I was just kidding.
But just for the hell of it, why don't you make the gun so its barely tip heavy, and barely sinks with the shaft in and no reel on it. |
