Go Now for a Trifecta...7-1-24
...With scattered schools of Bluefin up as far as above San Clemente island to San Nic, seabass at all the islands and coastal spots, our chances are looking great. Still squid along the backside of Catalina and SCI...
...Yellowtail on the inside of San Clemente island are averaging 30 lbs. and up.. Lots of yellows up shallow at Cortez Bank.not sure on Bluefin....Fished a charter recently at Santa Barbara island for a seabass and easy limits of Rockfish. Yellows there also. Landed two halibut on backside of Catalina coming back...lots of flatties present currently, both at islands and along coast... ...Just returned from 6 days on Prince of Whales island in Alaska. El Capitan Lodge is a 5-star operation with gourmet food! We four caught daily limits of King Salmon and Halibut all 3 days. Largest King was 32 lbs. The one- hour flight by seaplane from Ketchikan to the lodge provided fantastic sight-seeing. ...Staff cleaned our catch, with filets frozen and placed in double insulated boxes for our flight home. The 27' North River alum. boats never ran below 32 mph enroute to destinations. It was Mr. Toads wild ride at times. ...We saw orcas, whales, deer, sea otters and a black bear. A Humpback pushed her baby up to the surface for us to see. Alaska is truly the last frontier. Came home with over 100 pounds of filets... Go if you can!!
