Custom Double Roller - Finally Finished!!!
Time for the obligatory pics after almost a year of R&D. Many thanks to everyone who answered all of my many tedious questions.
Gun is 51.5" from butt to tip. Padauk blank with carbon fiber stringers between each of the 10 laminates. Maple burl wings with epoxy joints. 74" of band stretch, using two 14.5mm small ID bands. 5/16" shaft. (Could move up to 16mm bands and 11/32 shaft, but it's shooting great as is). Designed the muzzle myself using 1/4" carbon fiber stringers dropped into the muzzle for the muzzle risers and braces between each of the rollers. Inserted all ceramic bearings into each of the Meandros rollers (ceramic races and bearings to ensure zero corrosion). Thing is a beast. Power of a cannon and recoil of a .22. My first roller build, I'm sold on rollers. Going to move on to a bigger, inverted roller build next. |

Very nice! I've just completed some double rollers as well... came here to post some photos and saw yours. I love the combination of wood you've used. It looks great.
