Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount
Great success on your first run then 'eh?
Keep up the good work man! What method are you using to seal up the mounting bolt hole? Just some silicone? |

there's no break in the seal since the frame is separated from the skirt ... the hole is only drilled in the frame and the screw head is between the frame and skirt. For some low volume mask and others that don't have this "separation" if a hole is drilled, there will be the need for what you mention... Silicone should work... I recommend using a screw that has a head with a small profile, like the button head |

Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount
I've had some feedback on the mounts (not from everyone but almost) And I'm considering:
1 - Using an M4 screw and nut to make a smaller hole in the frame (will also be the same in the gun mount) 2 - having the (vertical) distance form the centre of the hole to the base of the mount changed to 12mm (reduced 3mm from 15mm) so the camera can be lower; 3 - having the (horizontal) distance form the contact surface (where is is screwed) to the back of the mount changed to 13mm (increased 3mm from 10mm) so the camera can be more to the back (this still allows for the use of a backpack with a lot of clearance); What do you think? Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount
Received my mask mount from marginatus two days ago and finally got around to mounting it. The mount looks really nice and is well made. I'm going to give it a test run this coming week. Here's a few pics of the mount on my Riffe/AQA sight mask.
Thanks, marginatus its a really nice mount. I'll give an update as soon as I put it to the test in a few days. So far I'm impressed and can't see why it wouldn't preform as expected. Click on the Photobucket link to see pics. |

Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount
@Cuda23
Thanks for the images. The next version of the mount, the base will sit 3mm lower and go 3mm more to the back which would be even better in your mask... |

Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount
I just bought two new masks and wonder if this mount will work for either of them?
I just got the new Riffe Nekton and the Riffe Mantis 5. Any ideas? Are these universal our made to the mask? I am deffinately interested! |

Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount
Hi, in order to secure the mount, a hole needs to be drilled into the frame to use a screw...
The masks that allow that are the ones that have the frame separated from the skirt so the hole doesn't break the seal of the mask... I looked at some pictures online and my (limited) guess would be that the Nekton doesn't allow for that but the Mantis 5 does... But I can't confirm just based on the online pictures. |
