2016 Southern Open Rules and Registration

After a one-year hiatus, it's back. There's quite a few changes this year (and if you like shooting a lot of fish, you're going to like those changes).

This is an Open style tournament that allows you to dive anywhere in the State. If you're diving outside the Tampa area and would like to run a remote Captain's meeting, there is contact information at the bottom of the Rules.

Some important dates:

5/18: Kick Off Party: Ferg's Sports Bar, 1320 Central Ave - St Petersburg, 6:30pm
5/18: Early Registration: Entries must be registered by midnight on https://so2016.tournamenthub.io/ until 11:59pm, for preregistration price
06/03: Mandatory Captains Meeting: Ferg's Sports Bar / Other Satellite Locations to be announced based on need and geographical area.
06/03: Late registration: Late registration is available through Friday, June 3rd at 7:59pm on-line via https://so2016.tournamenthub.io/.
06/04/16 Tournament Day: Statewide. All fish must be speared between Dawn & Dusk
06/05/16 Weigh In: 10:00 am - Clearwater Yacht Club, 830 Bayway Blvd, Clearwater Beach. All fish must be in line by 12 noon! Awards: Approximately 1pm
06/25/16 Tentative Rain Dates - Weekend of June 24-26

If a Pasco captains meeting comes together I would love to shoot this tournament.

Note that there has been a couple changes to the rules.

- The top Junior shooter will receive a custom Wong/GR speargun instead of a prize table pick.

- The random picks begin sooner in the prize pick order.

I'll leave the original rules up for a couple days so that people can see the changes.

Also note that the Kickoff Party was moved to May 19th due to a conflict with the Lightning playoffs (the Kickoff party is at Ferg's Sports Bar).

Contact Melody at the bottom of the rules list, and she can tell you what you need to do to call in a Captain's Meeting. There's probably a few other shooters in your area that would rather not make the drive as well. You can meet at a local bar, your driveway, wherever is convenient. You just need a phone to call in and check in the team members represented at the Captain's Meeting. She can give you a time and number to call it in.
