Re: California Dive Boats -- the legend of Radon (pictures)

Our 26' about to get wet for the first time circa 1995. Sadly, we do not own this boat anymore. It was a killer boat though. Built it super light using balsacore instead of the standard ply. Cruised at 30+ and got good gas mileage doing it. We added an overhead rack, out riggers, down riggers, bait tank, etc. before selling it. One of my most memorable trips on that boat was when we went up to avila to fish albies. Put 11 fish over 30 pounds on the boat for four fishermen, with the biggest fish in the 55-60 pound range. It was a GOOD day.

Re: California Dive Boats -- the legend of Radon (pictures)

Sierra Bravo, I remember your old boat. In fact Don took us on a test ride on it before we purchased our boat.

All of Don's boats are now built with end-grain balsa core composite construction (practically everything but the hull). It's one of the things that makes the boats so light and fast. It adds to the overall cost a bit, but it's worth every penny saved in fuel. It's also one of those miracle building materials that virtually eliminates the type of water damage you see in old glass-over-plywood boats.

Im stuck in Germany for another week of work and suffering from a nice little hangover

Save some fish for me, I cant wait to get home and back in the wasser, i mean water....

I dont have any up to date pics on this laptop, but here is a link to my website. http://www.usrov.com/Boats.html

Awesome boat Lance! I have an underwater cam pointing forward and out to the side for the same purpose, but its mounted through the trim tab in the back. It works good but i may do something similar to your setup one day. Much better to have them in the bow.
Would you mind explaining how you split the TV screen to get both video feeds next together like that? I have never seen a multiplexer that split the screen that way.

Nathan

Mark. The blue one is in Ventura and belongs to the Skinner family. We actually did a trade plus cash and ended up with their 24', whick we sold later on. The 24' looks exactly like the one with the red hull above, except the hull was white/black. That might even be our old boat, just repainted.

Edit: My mom just saw the picture and said it was our old boat. Pretty good job they did o fixing it up.

Great topic. I've wanted a Radon for many years and now 10+ years later, I finally purchased a 24' 1977 Radon. I repowered it with a 330 Cummins and a surface drive. Tough, simple boats. SBSurfer - I love that 20' er.
