Dirty water Midhandle build

Just finished my second gun build.
29" laminated purpleheart and teak.
Neptonics hardware, reverse mech
Riffe low profile reel

Had the gun in the water 3 times now and could not be happier with the performance. Has plenty of power despite it's short size and swings through the water with little résistance.

Only my second build so would love some feedback on areas to improve.

Nice catch, so you built your gun yourself ? just for fun or you are not satisfied with the market offer ?

Hey Ric,

Little of both. I could not find anything I liked for NJ's always bad visibility. No one seems to make midhandles as compact as the one I made. Also where else do you get abalone inlayed purpleheart guns!? It's addicting, I'll be remaking my first build this off season.

That's pretty awesome! Where do you get the wood from and how'd you learn? Also, do you need any special tools?

I learned most of it on this board. There a some real craftsman that post so much information here. Always answering questions too. You need a good amount of tools to do it and it take a long time, but it's great taking fish with something you built.

Hey Mana, is that the bottom half of a cast iron chiminea from "Blue Rooster", without the chimney attached? I have a cast aluminum one from them. You ever cook any fish on it? Is good for steaming clams.

I have not yet, but now I'm going to try some clams on it!
