From what I've seen, I would say that about 80% of Daryl's presentation will apply equally to scuba divers and freedivers. Same thing goes for Dr. Neal Pollock of DAN. Same thing goes for Manny Puig, as he will be speaking about how to handle sharks....no reason that subject would not pertain to scuba divers as well. Even Kirk's presentation should appeal to scuba divers, as I've met more and more who are interested in freediving. Art Pinder would be interesting to anyone, even if they are not divers. Most vendors sell to both scuba divers and freedivers. I think there are more things in common between the two groups than there are differences. Bottom line, I don't see anyone walking out of the seminar thinking...."Well, that whole thing applied to freedivers only and had nothing to do with scuba". |

Things just keep getting more and more exciting. Costa Del Mar just asked me if they can donate some sunglasses. Carey Chen, the famous fish artist, just informed me that he will be attending the seminar. He donated two lithographs, and they are stunning.
I just got Daryl's gun....here's a picture that tells it all. I would have a hard time using this gun....looks like it should be hung on a wall. Michael Braun, another talented artist, painted these fish on the stock, and then Daryl put the remaining coats of finish over it. Last edited by Sheri; 07-09-2006 at 11:58 PM. |

I know this is kind of a long shot, but can anyone help me identify someone that was at the Seminar? He was pretty tall, lean build, blondish curly hair. He was wearing a light, powder-blue long-sleeve thin jacket (I think it said CALIFORNIA on the back). He kept asking about the Art Pinder handmade sling, and I'd like to get one to him.
I don't think he was here for Nationals, because I already asked some CA guys, and he wasn't on any of their teams. In fact, he might not even be from California at all. I would really, really appreciate it if anyone could tell me who he is. Thanks. |

Sheri, I think he was someone's son..at least he was sitting with an older gentleman....and didn't he win a prize during the raffle? Sorry, that's all I can remember.

After seeing all the pics and reading about how excellent this event was I totally regret not having participated. Ill be sure to catch it next time. From what I have read you did an excellent job Sheri so you should be very proud for all you hard work.

Yeah...you should have joined us! Just curious, where did you see pictures? I just posted some, but I now realize they are on a California thread. Look here if you want to see more. http://www.spearboard.com/showthread.php?t=32128 I knew it would be kind of hard for some people to join us on a Thursday, but we still got a good showing. We filled the room with 250 people, and the prize list was over $15K. I've gotten four people who have volunteered to help me next year (makes my sister VERY happy), and I've gotten sponsors who say they'd step it up even more. I even have the nearby hotel offering to be a sponsor. I guess I might have to do it all over again! So you might get another chance, and I'll do it on a Saturday, and you'll have no excuse! |
