Dual Trolling Motors

Anyone have any experience using dual trolling motors on a catamaran to hold position while fishing? I'm considering using 2 gps enabled trolling motors on our custom aluminum cuddy dive boat. I'm looking at using one on a 16 foot Wahoo, but being able to use it along with a second one on the cat. I'll build brackets on the cat that would allow the motors to be lowered to allow for a shorter shaft, if required, and the combined thrust of the two would be comparable to the large single gps positioning motors out there right now. The advantage is basically a financial one since I can use the motors on both boats for less than the price of a single big motor, assuming the concept would work. The biggest concern I have is whether the motors would fight each other trying to hold position in an anchor mode.

I'm aware of 2 trolling motors being mounted on boats, but it's with one on the bow and one on the stern. (The idea is to provide anchoring and orientation for inshore fishing. I see more combination of a shallow anchor post on the stern with a trolling motor on the bow for this these days.) In that case, however, the motors operate independently, and do different things. Plus, they are further apart. For my project, I want them to act as identically as possible.

Anyone out there doing what I'm contemplating?

Re: Dual Trolling Motors

I can think of several questions, why do they bow mount instead of stern, easer to pull the boat around rather than push?
would 2 motors work against each other?
