Re: Rollergun Recoil and the Jerk (not the owner!)
Probably the granddaddy of cable rollerguns is that created by Australian Jack Egan which was a temperamental weapon by all accounts as the cables played up and items pulled loose inside it when least expected. The gun was powered by a wad of internal rubbers and a multi-cable drive ran to the spear. The gun's claim to fame is that it won the Dick Charles Trophy for shooting the biggest fish in a contest back in 1948. Apparently the gun still exists, but is now broken and despite attempts over the years to get a look at it Jack was a difficult guy in his old age. He passed away some years ago and for now we still hope to check his cable gun out one day.
Recently found this reference to Jack Egan and his cable gun, plus his association with spearfishing great the late Wally Gibbins who was himself a spearfishing innovator and multiple spearfishing champion. http://www.bluebananastudios.com/jack-egan Last edited by popgun pete; 05-12-2019 at 05:58 PM.
