Re: It's that time of year again
Youngest son got another doe and let a 7 point walk yesterday morning. Was supposed to go this evening but the back is in spasms.Maybe tomorrow.10,8,7 and some fork horns are all showing up in the daytime now.Crossbow had to be sent out so I have no option but bucks unless its doe day.Archers can shoot does and bucks during gun season.

The ugly Muscovies are one of the best eating.

Re: It's that time of year again
When I lived in south florida my brother in law would always grab one from the neighborhood to take back to Hialeah to fatten up.They crapped on everything.

Re: It's that time of year again
Weather warmed up to high 50s to low 60s so I took my new Gheenoe out to try for Stripers.Got a 30inch Striper and a little 2#spotted bass.
Locals must of thought I was nuts in deck shorts and a t shirt but after highs in the 30s and 40s it felt tropical if you were in a protected cove.

Re: It's that time of year again
He calls almost every day to fish. Its windy and spitting ice and he calls to see IF the weather changes we can go.I guess he got some of my bad habits.
Still have to take the other grandson to get his Striper. Gheenoe is made for two people max to be kinda comfortable so everyone will have to wait a turn for their fish. So far Im loving this little boat.Burn about a quart of gas each trip and never have charged the battery for the trolling motor since the outboard has a rectifier. This summer I can honestly say "I dont have room for you"and going to love it!

Re: It's that time of year again
Weather warmed up the other day to the 60s and water was at 59-60.Fish were turned on and my youngest got a 27inch striper and some smaller stripers and spotted bass.Got seven fish in a few hours and kept four.
Temps are dropping again with rain. After seven fishing trips I burned 11/2 gallons of fuel! Its not a big expensive fishing boat but we outfished most of the guys coming in at the ramp with 80k boats.

Re: It's that time of year again
Very similar to grouper in texture and taste. The red blood strip needs to be cut out or it can be a little strong for my taste.
My kid boils the meat with Old Bay and then throws it in a bowl with butter and more Old Bay.It makes great fish tacos.
