Out of Clwr. 7-14-23
Headed out in nice sea conditions and hot sun. Ended up off of New Port Richey. Depth :70' range. Vert. Vis: greenish/brownish tint. Maybe 25' vertical. Horz. Vis: 15'-20'. Some small jellyfish in the water column. Lots of small goes, hogs, red groupers and AJ's.. Saw a few nice closed season gags here and there . No sharks. Slight thermal layer about halfway down. Bottom temp.: 83F.. Fish box: 2 hogs and 2 goes. Didn't slay them. But, didn't get skunked. Either we were in the wrong area . Or everything inshore is getting hit hard. Except, for the closed season gags.

Re: Out of Clwr. 7-14-23
We dove in about the same area on 7/15 and observed the same conditions, maybe a little better viz. We speared a large male hogfish as soon as we hit bottom in 72'. That immediately attracted a large bull shark which did a close fly by and disappeared. We were able to keep the hogfish away from the shark, but refrained from further spearing.

No more spearing for the day? Or just on that spot? Glad you got your fish and the shark headed off.
