Trinidad Customs- spearfishing trip

Hey everyone. Don't post a lot. So sorry if this isn't the right place but I wanna make sure it gets seen. I'm going to Trinidad and Tobago in april from USA. Anyone have any experience bringing spearguns or other spearfishing/fishing equipment into Trinidad. I would be taking a ferry over to Tobago for a few days after a wedding and have a chance to go spearfishing every day. I've read it's hit or miss with customs bringing things in without a permit.
