Re: Baja Sur Towns & Pangaderos

"I've had great success shore diving outside of San Jose del Cabo"

Would you mind pointing me to some good areas? I'm going to SJ del Cabo Jan 12-19 and will be looking for places to shoredive for...

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Mesa had barely 3 ft vis yesterday. Worst I've seen it since the winter swells.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Pretty bad vis yesterday afternoon along town. 5-6 ft at the bottom, slightly better in less kelp-y areas, but still quite disappointing compared to what it looked like from the cliffs.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Dove in town late this afternoon. Murky in the shallows but opened up a bit on the outside - about 10 ft at the surface, but very poor on the bottom as a new windswell started filling in. On a better...

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

8-10ft vis on the outer kelps in town. Just get past the ultramurky shallows and you'll find somewhat huntable conditions. New swell coming soon though.

Re: Shore dives around Santa Barbara?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the visibility is looking really bad right now between some extended swell and strong winds. Your best bet would probably be Devereux in IV (MPA so no spearing)...

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Good visibility in town today - solid 15+ in most spots. Current's pushing to the NW, that may have cleared things up.

Found a nice-sized halibut early on but didn't angle my shot enough so that...

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

It was about 10-12 ft in town yesterday but then the swell picked up a bit. Not sure about today...

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Unspectacular but huntable vis in town this past weekend. 10-15 ft, the thicker the kelp bed the hazier the vis.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Made it out the past couple of mornings. Yesterday it was somewhat huntable, with the occasional area showing a respectable 15 ft vis. Took home a sargo. Today with the new swell not so much... Happy...

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Unspectacular visibility in town this morning. Varied from 3 to 12 ft at the very best (few and far between). Might be better north of town.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Looking pretty damn murky up and down the coast today. Only spot that looked "ok" from the plane was Refugio and the gaviota area in general.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Jumped in the mesa today despite the obvious swell and murky-looking water from the cliffs due to withdrawals. Vis was mostly in the 3-6 ft range, with areas of maybe 10 ft vis farther out. Not worth...
