Re: "Off season" pursuits and bragging thread

Out at Buoy 10 with a guide. I caught 4 Chinook with my first being the smallest. Since I didn't know if I was going to get anymore, I kept it.http://i.imgur.com/dbFueGd.jpg

Re: Finder battery issues.

Did you put a knot in your power cable on the inside to provide strain relief? If not, it's likely that a good yank on the cord will break the silicone's seal and let water in.

Re: PNW food thread

Those Morels are massive. I am still looking for a place around here that I can find them, but every lead I've got has been fruitless. Looks great to me!

Re: Another 31lb Monster!

That carp looks to be bigger than the kid next to it. Pic 4 is adorable, BTW. That's pretty awesome and thanks for sharing.

Re: Finder battery issues.

I've got an Elite 4 that I bought on sale from Cabela's. I haven't had a chance to get it wet yet, but my plan was to either use my trolling battery for my small boat or go with Joe and use 18650s....

Re: A Clear Day For Lake Michigan And Other Amazing Images Of The Week

The Rising Sun isn't very deep (6-12') but the significant thing is that many wrecks were spotted from the air that day. More than normal due to water clarity.

Re: Pesticides for Oysters killed workers

Why don't they have floating mats for the oysters to grow on? It would prevent them from sinking and also prevent a use of pesticide. Surely it has been tried before. If not, why not!?

Re: Where can a guy get a 8" ab gage

According to Oregon regs, it just needs to be fixed to the right size. From the regs:

Re: A couple pics, maybe

Congratulations Max and Kathy! 40 is a big milestone.

Leigh, I like that shoehorn idea. I always seem to have to bend in a weird direction to get my fins on (if I get my gloves on first). Maybe...

Re: Tolovana Massacre

Way to slay them. That's too bad to hear about Jeff. Non-Drowsy Dramamine is a God-send. Kept me going strong last time I went out halibut fishing: 8' swell going in and out. It took us a few hours...

Re: Sled Driver. A book by an SR-71 driver

If you guys ever get out to Oregon, the Evergreen Flight Museum out of McMinnville has one on display. It was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Super cool to see it as I consumed everything I...

Re: Fish donations to homeless (PDX)

That's good to know.

A thought just crossed my mind, how about we have a tournament where all of the speared fish get donated? I think that it would be cool if we could get a bread place to match...

Re: Spearing in Washington Conservation Areas

Have you tried to give WDFW a call? It has been my experience that those Gov't agencies want people to be in accordance with harvest rules and will try to help explain things as fast and clearly as...

Re: Late Barview shout out?

That's awesome. The coast looked great (I was there on Saturday with my family) and I'm glad at least one of us took advantage of the weather.

Re: Oregon coast viz predictors

To add to the data porn, I stumbled across this website:

https://www.windyty.com/?surface,wind,now,44.943,-123.035,4

It shows wind intensity and direction (localized wind direction), for just...

Re: "candle watt brightness" what does that mean?

I agree with FredT. This sounds like the company can't compete so they put a non-standard (i.e. made up) rating to make the equipment look better.

If it is from a more reputable company, you...

Re: oregon or norcal dive shops?

I second this. They are good people. If you are further north (in Salem), I would recommend Hydrosports. They are scuba too, but definitely are pro hunting. Mark is outstanding and will help you out...

Re: Monday (2-16-15)

Wouldn't a 6' exchange of tide stir things up in the bays? If you are at sea, that would probably be a different story.

Re: recommendations for a daytime crack light?

I have the eLED SL4 and the 400 lumen rating is pretty generous. It is pretty crappy as a daytime light as your eyes aren't adjusted to it's lower level light. It is an awesome backup for night...

Re: recommendations for a daytime crack light?

I've got a cheap flea-bay special that works well enough. It was 10 bucks and I've had it down to 60' with no problems. I fully expect it to give up the ghost on every dive and I've been pleasantly...
