Re: Carbon stringers: do they add anything?

How thick do you plan on making these stringers?
Also, be aware carbon fiber composites are much heavier than wood, teak is also quite heavy, you better pick a more suitable wood.

Re: Carbon stringers: do they add anything?

Carbon sleeving is by far the best way of strenghtening a guns body. Unless you are bothered by design issues (say you dont want carbon to be so visually dominant), sleeving is by far the best way to...

Re: Dyneema shooting line for roller?

It cuts fish way too much, this is why you use mono.

Re: Small rollerguns for close-up work

Whats the point?

Pneumatic guns for hunting inside caves and such have one big disadvantage, thats when you are shooting up close and there is a rock behind the fish there is a danger of you...

Re: Briante spearguns

That would be true if you would use the bands of the same thickness and stretch the bands to the same stretch ratio as you would with a normal rubber. Since you actually feel half of the force you...

Re: Sigalsub CF 110 speargun test

Do you know what technology is it? Is it molded in two halves or something else, more complicated?

Applying the same logic, why ask to delete these posts?

Re: Latest roller builds finished

Hand made or CNC? Interestingly though, you said you used fiberglass AND carbon fiber? Where did you put the fiberglass? Under the carbon?

In most cases, you don't need to stiffen up a monoroller...

Re: Rollergun Recoil and the Jerk (not the owner!)

My attitude? What attitude is that? Even if my claims were wrong, i think i gave you a space and time for a proper discussion. You on the other hand, instantly came around doubting my ability to read...

Re: Rollergun Recoil and the Jerk (not the owner!)

Indeed it does. I just thought to get my facts straight seeing how i might have misread some things coming from the Applied physicist. Now if his highness isn't that troubled, can i get an answer to,...

Re: Rollergun Recoil and the Jerk (not the owner!)

Does the graph compare three band rollergun or three band classic gun, with the twin axle rollergun?

Re: Rollergun Recoil and the Jerk (not the owner!)

Perhaps i didn't understand what you wanted to say, but please elaborate this sentence:

If not all energy is trasfered to the shaft, what does this graph prove? Besides why even compare twin...

Re: Rollergun Recoil and the Jerk (not the owner!)

There are some serious flaws in your analysis. Probably the biggest one is that the energy that bands accumulate all directly translates to shaft. This is only partially true, because as the shaft...

Re: Gun blank Layup

If you sanded and prepared your wood right, its a piece of cake. Its even easier if you apply first two or three coats within few hours (depending on your working temperature). This will give you a...

Re: Rollergun Recoil and the Jerk (not the owner!)

You are right, spearfishing and pool tests are not the same thing, you just have to take the data that they do give that is relevant, just like a test drive isnt the same as driving the car every...

Re: Coldish weather epoxy

If inside the house isn't an option, this is your best choice. Still, try to keep the speargun and the epoxy at a warmer place before you start working.

Re: Rollergun Recoil and the Jerk (not the owner!)

In theory, yes. What i mostly find is that conventional band guns are built bulkier so that their mass can soak the recoil. Jacks gun is awesome, i wonder if he ever really went spearfishing with...

Re: Coldish weather epoxy

Epoxying is a pretty clean technology if you follow some basic principles. Why not just protect your table with some transparent foil, and have a go at your house. Seriously now, it doesnt stink like...

Re: Rollergun Recoil and the Jerk (not the owner!)

Thee idea that the "cable" rollers bring is exaclty that. They bring heavier shafts, usually are shorter than circular rubber counterparts, and their pulley based rubber battery applies power along a...

Re: Rollergun Recoil and the Jerk (not the owner!)

Dont mean to be rude, but is there a topic, or post where the term terminal velocity is explained in detail? Lot of people like to mention this term, and i am yet to see some proper data to show what...
