Re: Dive Conditions 12-03-2023

It's great when you see them bunched together like that in huge numbers!

But often times I end up with none! as they all scatter in all directions...

Re: Dive Conditions 10-14-2023

It's good to see that the deep end still has decent conditions. The local shallow reefs are a totally different story.
This year has had the worst shore dive conditions in the last 35 years that I...

Re: Dive Conditions 10-07-2023

Very glad to see you still have the Adrad "Twist it twice" lobster bag! They don't make them anymore in almost 20 years...
I have probably the last other Adrad bag left in circulation!

Re: Caught a halibut this week in Orange County

It's been a lousy winter with a lot of huge swells, back-to-back storms, and loss of kelp/sand, so we all dive less nowadays...

Re: Dive Conditions 02-04-2023

Conditions have been unusually rough this winter, and it's going to be a difficult spring, with little kelp, sand erosion, and plankton blooms, especially for the shallows.

Re: First Dive of the Year .. after the storms

I can only imagine how the shallows must be devastated from these storms and huge swells....

Re: Searching for Jakob the tall OC firefighter

How about the eBay guarantee program? Doesn't it do anything when for not as advertised items?

Re: Dive Conditions 11-20-2022

Huge halibut!
I see bugs are still plentiful in the deep.

Re: Dive Conditions 11-12-2022

Still plentiful in the deeper reefs, as they become scarcer in the shallows.

Re: Dive Conditions 10-22 -2022

IMHO, after lobstering almost 30 years, the best bag was the Adrad "twist it twice" bag. You could open/close it with one hand, and it was locked securely.
I haven't seen the FL style bag used by...

Re: Hey BOB , The BUTTS are in the Bay!

It's funny how the 2nd tore from the sliptip...
And next to the 3rd female was a smaller male; hence, always scan around a flattie for others.
Good job.

Re: Not this AGAIN?

The problem for the bug fishery is the Commercials. No doubt about that. The only reason we divers get some decent bugs from shore is the restriction of commercials in the S.Monica Bay.
As soon as...

Not looking too bad. Nevertheless, it is always a concern when they go back to "review" a fishery...

The logo on the Mako bands wore off after my first dive with them. No worries.

Re: Palos Verdes Dive Conditions 02-26-2022

Very nice. It's amazing how lobsters in deep waters are more relaxed and approachable, compared to the bugs in the shallows.

Re: Palos Verdes Dive Conditions 02-05-2022

Great vis. The hali only moved 30 feet from where it was shot, so it was easy to find it in clear waters.
