83lbs almaco in baja, a tale about how inadequate are reels are
So, I shot this guy at 75 feet... It took about 150 feet of reel line. In a perfect world, I would have a real reel... one that can take the line back and help us fight the fish and reduce the risk of entanglement... but no, we have idiotic reels, toys really, that leave us super exposed to accidents. I hope one day someone adresses this crying lack of a simple piece of equipement...

Nice fish! They put hell of a fight when you don't stone them.

Get a belt reel as backup. But it must be always engaged to your gun through a one meter bungee.
When you really need it, you don't have enough oxigen in your brain to make wise decisions and you also loose fine coordination needed to connect it to the speargun. |
