I was in Ketchikan and went about a dozen times. Shot 2 kings and a few pinks. Went looking for halibuts but had no luck as without a boat most of the close to town spots are prettt fished out, all the tourists want to catch a flatty. I know that there a few spots that have a winter king run some people have had luck with lings but I never found any good habitat for them. My main thing is it's very hit and miss with weather etc and a out of state fishing license plus a king tag is gonna run you over $200.
Don't let me decide for you it's beautiful and you never know why you might run into.

    Have fun

Did you ever go spearfishing in Alaska? I'm headed up there to see my girlfriend, tomorrow...and wondering if it's worth bringing my speargun. Let me know what you found-out.
