Kevin,
I took my brother to Royal Palms State Beach in Palos Verdes for the day and tried my luck at a quick dive. Bad Idea; the visibility was terrible and the current could only be described as a torrent. I dogged a field of urchin and pounding surf against rocks just to get in. Fifteen minutes into it, I figured it was best to call it and return to shore -easier said than done. Going out the way I went in was impossible. I had to swim out passed all the kelp and the upstream like an "OLD" salmon to his death. The quarter mile swim north left me beyond exhausted (probably thanks to my little fins) and it is my life’s goal to never repeat a swim like that again.
I was reminded of Josh's statement about diving from shore and how futile such dives would seem after our dives. Today, I am total agreement- I miss the wall already.
Stay away from this place!!!
