All About Pole Spears & Slings What is it about that traditional method of the early hunter/gatherers under the water? These devices are indeed interesting and effective. |

Bahama Sling Shafts.
At one time, whilst running Florida Freedivers, I used to import stainless steel sling shafts from the Bahamas.
I sold these under the name BOB spears (Best Of the Bahamas) They were expensive but in those days were, by far, in my opinion, the best shaft for Hawaiian Slinging. They were bright stainless steel (easier to see in the grass or on the reef); They had plenty of spring in them and the barb locked open. Never saw rust either, even if left in the bilge of the boat. These shafts were made by a company out of Marsh Harbour. Embarrassing to say I have lost the name of the manufacturer or his contact details. Someone asked me for the contact the other day and I could not help them. I asked Florida Freedivers for help but they say they have also lost contact. I believe they may have gone out of business after the hurricane. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks in advance, Mike. |
