Hi Ryan,
pleased to talk with you from the boat
Congrats
Amarillo snapper record?

DAY 3:
The sea offshore seems like a lake... but water is dark blue and dirty.
We boated 20 to 30 miles off the coast.
No tuna spotted but 2 dorado taken in the upwelling currents.
One is over 40 lbs. At the time I was playing this fish, I could observe at 50 feet depth an amazing about 70/ 80 lb big bull making a short visit!
Got at night some reliable info about a tuna school swimming (+ spinner dolphin school) at about 15 miles off Playa Garza...

Day 4: 9hours boating 15 to 40 miles off the coast: Nada.
This is BW hunting!
Pura vida!

Re: Action in Costa Rica.

DAY 5:
Very nice sea/ weather but blue/ green water. So we Have to boat offshore at 25/ 30 miles in looking for upwelling/ cold current and something drifting there.
Spotted a dying turtle swimming slowly on the surface surrounded by a lot of bait fish. In the depth a little skipjack school... a good sign.
Is the turtle too old, sick or injured? At the time I was filming the scene a huge sailfish appeared in the field... (pic turtle3/4)
Caught a dorado.
One of the boat motor broke suddenly down at 11am.
We must get back carefully to the coast at 6 miles per hour.
This is BWH!
Pura vida!

Me likey Pura Vida...
Discovered on the video taken about 3 sec. footage of the "bull" dorado visiting the female.
As usually a male wich was swimming around the capture about 5/ 10 sec, then it took off and vanished in the blue.
Unfortunately the fish appears just after I shot the fish. I was at the time holding gun+ flasher + video in one hand and bungee in the other. This dorado was tough and had strength. So I could not stabilize the camera.
I dove straight away close to the bull at about 70 feet and could observe this amazing huge fish. I estimated once and an half much greater than the female: about 60/ 70lbs...
Pura Vida!

Re: Action in Costa Rica.

stayed only one week and I'm back to Canada...
this pic taken at about 20 feet depth and about 30miles off the coast in blue water will help me to resist to "Arctic" winter.. these fish seem to fly in blue sky!

see you next january 2012. Clear water and have great UW hunting!
Pura vida!

Re: Action in Costa Rica.

anyone headed to the central pacific/ jaco/ los suenos area interested in spearing, be sure to look me up. I run a 32 contender fisharound in los suenos marina, and am the only active legal charter boat that spears on a regular basis. i have plenty of inshore spots for snapper, aj's , loro's etc. and am always ready to go blue water as well. i will be more than happy to help arrange transportation, lodging and anything else you may need help with.
