Lemons

I was so inspired by Dan's videos I decided to go get some fish yesterday..
But since Gag season is closed,,,not that it would matter,, because they are nearly extinct around here,, and Hogs are in the same shape... That leaves "Mangos" there are a few places that hold them ,,, but not like it used to be..
So,,,,,, when all you have "Lemons" make lemonade !!!
Started out hook & line to try to entice one with some small pin fish I brought along ..
Of course that didn't work,, except for a Jew fish was hungry for tidbits.......
Well, that was too much me ,,, so i grabbed the 8 mil and went down...... And to make things more complicated I used a line shaft ..... I just hate to lose a shaft in that dirty water....
Back in boat ,,,After all that excitement I realized that I forgot to get my hooks back from that Jew fish !

Re: Lemons

Mango's, IMO, are some of the best table fare from the sea anyway!

Nice Job!!

Re: Lemons

I operate out of Red Fish pass, this spot is a little south of Sanibel Is. For some reason nobody post from this area any more. Maybe they got smart and left for another area !
Water was plenty cool with maybe 12' max vis.... That storm of 2 days of Northwester's stirred up the bottom some ... I hope to find a few bugs this season like last year....

Re: Lemons

Yes ,,, it's a 26' Hardtop with a good old 351 Ford..... not the fastest boat around , just the best sounding boat ! I bought it to fish Delaware bay in the winter for Strippers about 24 years ago....I haven't seen another boat i would rather have... just gotta leave a little earlier ....

Re: Lemons

Great stringer of mangs. Still too cold for me. Spending my time getting the boat in shape for season. Congrats on the fish.

Re: Lemons

No diving lately but was out by Sanibel pulling stone crab traps which is doing real good right now.

We have a lot of good bottom here is swfl most of it is deep due to the constant red tide problems

Re: Lemons

Me too,,,,, To pass the time waiting for the wind to ease up,, been getting some crabs..
Lots of good bottom here,, true but after watching so many videos,, seems like there is much more structure to the north... A lot of pot holes at 100+ but not much else...
Just Tons of shallow ledges, witch are mostly dead these days...

That’s great to hear. I bought a 26 predator with a 2 year old Cummins recon 210 in it a few years back but the boat was in very bad condition. I patiently kept my eyes open for a 26 Mackinaw that needed to be repowered and bought one last year. I’m in the process of redoing the boat and putting the Cummins in it now. Should make a great dive boat

Re: Lemons

It will be a winner ,, and with that Cummins should give you many years of economical trouble free service ! My Shammy and i have been through alot over the years..
BTW . Go to "FISH THE CLASSIC" for an enormous wealth of information for Shamrocks.....
