Re: Daily Vis Report Thread

newport vis got a little better, 5~8 ft.
Read goosefish's post on my way there so I was just going to go to gansett if newport was still shitty but it turned out ok.
Saw only one trig, ran into school of good sized scups and never saw them again, plenty togs in the water, some bsb. Saw one tiny bass.
high tide was 11 I think, I dove from noon til 5 on outgoing tide, I got out when the vis turned shitty again.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread

Dove Whale Rock & Kettle Bottom today on incoming tide. Viz was good vertically but only a murky 3 feet horizontal. The Whale Rock dive was short and went to Kettle Bottom where is was barely any better and got worse as it neared high. Plenty of tog there just couldn't get a clear enough look to gauge size. I did manage some 18-19 tog and of coarse a monster comes by, close enough to poke, looking like he didn't have a care in the world but the gun wasn't loaded since I was taking one off the line. I never saw him again.

Friday night at Gooseberry was another story where the viz was in the Caribbean range, crystal clear, and really warm water. It's been years since I've seen it that clear.

Had a good dive Narragansett this evening. Saw bass and blues, a school of false albacore and plenty of blackfish. Bait, bait, bait. 10-plus of visibility.

Any reports for either Sakonnet/Point Judith/Newport/Narragansett would be greatly appreciated!

West glostah this morning from high tide down. 6-10 foot vis, variable. Lots of egged up lobsters that went back safely, no keepers, some tog sighted and a flounder! 60 was the temp.

Fort Adams yesterday afternoon on the last part of the incoming tide: 5-8'. The only tog spotted were better left to fatten for next year.

Sakonnet Point 9/20, 3-6PM...incoming tide?

Visibility was ~7ft

Lots of black wrasse too big for the aquarium, yet too small to be worth it. Skinny looking togs they were!

Some baby stripers too.
Lot's of 6" Menhaden snacks swimming around,

I guess the bigger fish we're probably deeper than the 25' I was diving and further out

East Passage, Newport side this afternoon. Vis was poor, 2-5 feet. Saw many small togs and a large school of Menhaden.

Was that you in the blue kayak? I found "clear" water on the north side of the lighthouse, along the bottom

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread

Rockport
visibility was about 6-8, but the water is so cold now, hardly any life around. The best to do up there is collecting Jonah crabs.

Should have driven south.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread

I hit Newport and Jamestown all over for a couple days. The vis is not consistent. I had mostly crap vis with only some ok areas. The cleanest spots being over sand. The swell out front Saturday was building and had a strong south wind. I would assume with the swell continuing to build over the next couple days the vis will get worse. Hopefully it will be cleaner for the weekend. It does seem to have less cloudiness and its cooling slightly, so we should be good. I would like to see more bass with all this bait in the water. I know they are here I just don't see them when/where I'm diving.

If anyone wants to show me the bass let me know.
My boat is fueled and ready to go!
