Much of that stuff was placed down there by divers that are no longer with us any longer. Locations are often passed down from generation to generation. After more than 45 years diving in the Santa Monica Bay, we've been lucky enough to have been shown many great spots both for Lobster, Halibut, and other great attractions.

I don't know if they've ever done it but I would like to see some program where they sprinkle a lot more of this stuff around. Instead of building an artificial reef, seems they'd rather give us another MPA

Not wanting to be a Debbie Downer...... but you need to each carry your own bugs, should you accidentally come up with 15, or a short- you both get the ticket.
Great dive!!!

Thats actually been done, there are ship reefs, rock reefs, pipe reefs, dock box reefs all placed by the FnG years ago. They are still down there if you know where to look ...

I know about the artificial reefs but I mean this loose small debris. Seems like they could do a lot more of this for the price of one Izors

Was wondering if anyone can or has dived Shelter Island near the pier? I was down in that area a few weeks ago and it looked liked it could be beautiful dive. So long as I avoid the hooks...hehehehe.... Thank you.
